I’m Nicky, a children’s book illustrator based in Newcastle. I create expressive, hand-drawn illustrations full of character, warmth and gentle humour, specialising in picture books and character-led storytelling.

About Me

I’m a children’s book illustrator with over seven years’ experience creating expressive, hand-drawn artwork. My work celebrates wobbly lines, organic shapes and tactile mark-making, holding onto the warmth and character that bring stories to life. I specialise in picture books and character-led storytelling, creating illustrations full of personality and gentle humour.

Before becoming a full-time illustrator, I worked as an English and Art teacher in Spain and South Korea, an experience that shaped my understanding of how children connect with language, imagery and character.

I still love to travel and rarely go anywhere without my sketchbook. Watching people interact, noticing small everyday moments, and exploring new places are constant sources of inspiration for the characters and worlds I create. I’m always excited to collaborate with authors and publishers to bring imaginative, character-filled stories to life.
